damaged riser and sub-motorENERGYCLEAN received a call from a major convenience store chain: their diesel fuel was pumping slowly and intermittently, and they were changing filters frequently. ENERGYCLEAN responded to the call and began our tank-cleaning process, and our 20+ point inspection of their fuel-delivery systems. One of the first steps in our 20+ point inspection is to remove the sub-motor. This provides greater access and it is usually the lowest point in the tank where junk and gunk accumulates.

While removing the sub-motor from the tank, our technicians had great difficulty pulling it up through the riser and the sub-motor became hung-up. Eventually, we were able to remove it from the tank. Upon inspection, we found severe corrosion had disintegrated the threads where the sub motor attached to the column-pipe. The sub-motor was hanging in the tank only by its motor wires.

ENERGYCLEAN notified the customer of the problem, the customer delivered a new sub-motor and column-pipe assembly to the site, and ENERGYCLEAN technicians replaced the corroded sub-motor/column-pipe assembly, finished cleaning the tank and the customer was back in business with a clean tank and a new sub-motor/column-pipe assembly.
